Chatouk is a soFab service: the soFab Terms of Use and Privacy Policy apply and prevail. This page describes what is specific to Chatouk.
Everything is public. Every post published here can be read without an account and is distributed through open RSS feeds that anyone can fetch, copy and keep.
Prohibited content. The authoritative list is the one in the Terms of Use — illegal content, attacks on people, rights violations. No summary replaces it: in case of doubt, the text of the Terms decides.
Republishing elsewhere is your choice. Replying to a post from another server does not republish it there. A checkbox “Also publish this reply on the origin server” only appears when the target address is a server we have a bridge with; it is unchecked by default, and nothing is sent until you check it. If you do, your reply is published there through a soFab bridge account, under your username, with a link to the original on Chatouk.
You keep control of that copy. Editing your post propagates the change; deleting it, or deleting your soFab account, also removes the remote copy. However, that removal depends on the availability of the other server — if it does not answer, the copy stays online and the removal has to be redone by hand. Write to info@sofab.ch if you notice that a copy survived your deletion.
Replies from elsewhere. They are moderated on entry: the first reply from an external author waits for manual approval, then, once that author is approved, their following replies appear without waiting. There is no guaranteed delay. This trust can be withdrawn: the administrator can revoke it at any time, and you can withdraw it yourself from an external contributor who replied under one of your posts — their reply then leaves your thread, and their following replies, anywhere on Chatouk, go back through manual approval. These replies remain the responsibility of their author and their origin server.
Reporting. Write to info@sofab.ch, or use the “Report this post” link under each post, giving the link of the post concerned.
Handling. The administrator reviews and, if necessary, removes the content: it disappears from the pages and the feeds. Repeat offence or serious content: access is revoked.
Scope of a removal: it deletes the content at the source and removes the copies we published ourselves on a bridged server. It cannot recall what third parties have already fetched — RSS readers, aggregators, search engines, caches.
